Its taken for granted nowadays that nobody uses their own name when writing on the web. I can understand the need for security for not giving out your proper names. But it does make it hard to converse with people with only numbers as their names.
Be as it may. No matter. we will get along. But at least cound'nt they sign in as ss1212 New York. or tlk712 Australia, lakpa007 New York etc,. Just to make it clear to us that we are conversing with people from such and such place. It is a small courtesy required of the writer.
"Rose by any other name smells the same." Shakespeare.
(I know this is not a 'best quote' thread. But, thought it'd be appropriate to start this conversation with it.)
Folks who want to make sound contributions to this web site are doing it with whatever names or numbers they have chosen. I don't think we ought to put much importance to the names, as they say, "what's in the name?" What is important is the messages, suggestions, ideas, opinions etc, etc, that others have to share here.
As you pointed out some of us - ss1212, tlk712 and yourself, lakpa007, we have, when needed, put our real names under the messages we posted. I'm quite sure that you don't mean us when you say 'hiding behind names' or something to that effect from other threads, but again, that could be blessing in disguise. Not knowing who they're talking to may make them put their true thoughts that they wouldn't ordinarily do had they known who they were talking to, as our customs dictate sometimes.
But again, talking to one another with different log on ids, in time we have known many's real idendities. Again, knowing the real ids is not as important as knowing what the messages are.
Now, I could change my log on id by registering as Sonam G. Sherpa, but I'm so very proud to be the second on the list of names (real or otherwise) in the directory of SherpaKyidug.org. It has that proud feeling that American Express tries to instill in you by saying, "Member Since".
And now about the title of your thread, "Let's Make Life Simple". Life is what one makes it out to be. It could be simple or not simple. By dwelling on such issues as wanting to know the real identifications of visitors on the Sherpakyidug.org is making it hard on yourself.
