During the 4th of July weekend, the Sherpa community in Colorado was able to raise over $5,200 to support Mr. Furtemba Sherpa, and his continuing goal of cycling around the world. Although the Sherpa community in Colorado numbers just over a hundred, the unity within the communnity directly contributed towards this success in the fund raising effort.
The event became a huge success in particular due to the efforts of Pemba Tsering Sherpa (Boulder, and owner of Sherpa Adventure House), and Lhakpa Chotar Sherpa (Golden, and owner of Sherpa House). They not only took their time to put the events together, but also made significant personal contributions to this important.
During Mr. Furtemba's short stay in Colorado, we were also able to organize a bicycle rally in the mountains of Vail with 15 Sherpa families. Mr. Furtemba has also been featured in various media publications here, in addition to meeting with mayors of major cities such as Golden and Boulder.
As Mr. Furtemba Sherpa continues his journey towards Africa, we all wish him the best of luck, and safe journey.
