Ngawang Karsang Sherpa is currently working as an
Acquisitions Associate for a Private Equity Real Estate Investment Company.
Ngawang is originally from Khumjung, Solukhumbu and graduated from Cambridge
University in 1993 with a B.A. in Architecture and from the University
of Pennsylvania with Master's in Architecture in 1998. Ngawang Karsang
earned his MBA from Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania
in 2004. As an architect prior to MBA, Ngawang Karsang also worked for
Venturi and Scott Brown Associates, one of the most famous firms in the
world.
Ngawang Karsang Sherpa is also active in the sherpa community. At the
Losar 2003 party, he was recognized by the New York Sherpa Kyidug for
his community service. A positive role model for the younger generation,
Ngawang Karsang encourages Sherpa youths to get higher education and to
become more actively involved in all aspects of our community. He has
been instrumental in forming and leading the Sherpa Education Committee.
He is also an advisor for SherpaKyidug.org.
An avid skier and golfer, Ngawang Karsang won the prestigious design competition
for the Katmandu Municipality Office Building in Nepal in 1995. Among
his other achievements include a Supreme Gold Medal in Art Exhibitions
in Japan and Gold Medals in Finland and Nepal, and solo-painting exhibition
in Vienna, Austria in 1991. After completing his primary schooling from
Khumjung, he went on to graduate from Budhanilkantha School with four
A's in the A-Level Exams, the best score in the history of the school.
At the University of Cambridge, he was the recipient of the Flagship
Award, the most prestigious award offered by the British Government
to International Students.
