In
late 2002, Sangay Sherpa felt the need for a website catering specifically
to the needs of the Sherpa
Community. After discussing the idea with Sange Lama, the two approached
Sonam Sherpa, the then President of
New York Sherpa Kyidug and an informal decision was made to create
such a site. SherpaKyidug.org was thus
conceived.
In October 2004, the
New York Sherpa Kyidug (United Sherpa Association) Board formed
the SherpaKyidug.org Web Committee to run this site efficiently
and effectively. The Web Committee consisted of
