SAVE DOLMA CAMPAIGN
Sherpa Kyidug; United Sherpa Association has
formed an 8-member Save Dolma Committee which
will be responsible for raising funds in the
US to save Dolma Sherpa and advising Sherpa
Kyidug to make its decision for proper utilization
of the fund generated for this purpose.
Save Dolma Committee held its first meeting
at Sherpa Kyidug's office on March 16, 2008
and discussed all the options to raise funds
for the release of Dolma Sherpa.
MINUTES OF SAVE DOLMA COMMITTEE'S MEETING
ON MARCH 16,2008
Attendees:
Topics discussed during the meeting.
1- The Save Dolma Committee will raise money
on a Humanitarian basis to ensure that Dolma
is not given death sentence.
2- The money raised from New York will personally
be delivered by one of our committee members.
3- Incase the money (blood money) is not accepted
and we are not able to save Dolma, the fund
will be used towards the development of the
Sherpa Gomba.
4- The amount to be raised or the time frame
has not been decide as of yet.
5- The Save Dolma Committee along with Sherpa
Kyidug to notify all the other Nepali organizations
to take part in this campaign. Money raised
from different organizations will be eventually
handed over to the Save Dolma Committee.
6- Donors shall raise money on all social events
and will also personally collect it during their
free time. (More to be discussed)
7- Mr. Kale Sherpa will be responsible to save
the details of the funds raised and depositing/updating
the committee on the progress.
8- The fund is to be raised from all different
Nepalese organizations and individuals.
Assigned Tasks (To do's)
1- Sherpa Kyidug to open a Save Dolma bank
account.
2- Sherpa Kyidug to design a Save Dolma web
page and to have a pay pal system to receive
donations.
3- Sherpa Kyidug to design a receipt for all
donors. The receipt will include the following
statement (If the donated amount can not be
used towards saving Dolma's life it will be
used towards the development of the Sherpa Gomba)
4- Mr. Lama Chewang Dai to contact the Nepalese
and Kuwait lawyers to understand all the possible
scenarios of this case. Latest update from Lama
Chewang Dai - The funds if not used for Save
Dolma can be used towards the development of
the Sherpa Gomba, 90% of the time it has been
approved. He found one Kuwaiti lawyer in Washington
D.C. who practices law not only in America but
in Kuwait as well. The consulting fee is 1200$/
hour. This lawyer can also represent Dolma in
Kuwait as well.
5- Anthony to contact Mr. Pasang Sherpa in
Kuwait to get the latest update on Dolma's case.
